Cara Grimshaw

Hi, I'm Cara.

I was born in England and grew up surrounded by horses and farm creatures — animals have just always been part of my life. In 2000, I immigrated to Canada, and by 2003 I'd settled into the Tricities, which is home now. My career took shape in photography, and it led me to some incredible places, including working the London 2012 Olympics.

That experience is actually what brought horses back into my life after a few years away — I ended up working extensively in the international equestrian industry, and along the way found myself looking after other people's animals whenever I could, before later returning to the Olympics again in Paris in 2024.

Alongside all of that, I spent over twenty years in office management, personal assistance, and project coordination. It's a strange mix on paper — photography, horses, admin work — but it's given me a level of organization and attention to detail that shows up in everything I do, including how I care for pets and homes.

I tend to gravitate toward longer sits. There's something I really enjoy about settling into a routine with an animal, getting to know their habits, and having enough time to actually build trust rather than just passing through. I've also found myself naturally picking up concierge tasks along the way — the kind of household things that pile up when someone's away — because it just makes sense to take care of the whole picture, not just the pet.

If you've never worked with a sitter before, I get that it can feel like a big step. I always start with a meet-and-greet, so we can get a feel for each other before anything's booked.
